Lan Ying(1585-1664), whose aliases were Tianshu, Diesou and Shitoutuo,was a native of Qiantang (present-day Hangzhou).He specialized in landscape painting but has also produced some good pictures of figures, flowers and birds. His paintings are noted for their smooth, elegant brushwork and lofty atmosphere. People call him "the last of the ranking painters of the Zhejiang school".
